The season starts early April and ends mid to late July. The Alaska team outfits climbers and guides with everything needed for their expeditions: food, equipment, flight logistics, lodging, and transportation. This position will assist the Alaska Operations manager in all aspects of delivering a safe and successful 2026 season; tasks and schedule vary widely. The position is one third of the team of three operations staff lead by the Operations Manager. Position Objective Learn and assist in operational functions for Alpine Ascents Alaska expeditions. Provide the highest level of logistical service for our clients. Qualifications Have an interest in climbing and expeditions, domestic and international · Able to work independently as well as function within a small team · Customer service oriented · Able to lift heavy duffels and backpacks (up to 60lb) · Self-tasking with consistent attention to detail and willing to adapt to an unpredictable weekly schedule · US citizenship or valid work visa, valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to drive a 15-passenger van and trailer · Professional appearance and demeanor and preferred international travel, climbing, and mountaineering knowledge/experience Responsibilities · Maintain and repair climbing equipment and rental gear · Travel to and from Anchorage to purchase food and packing materials for expedition meal packing (15 teams of max 12 per) · Issue and de-issue expedition gear · Inventory tracking · Personal familiarization with program operating plans and protocols · Willingness to monitor personal cell phone during off-hours · Customer service: orienting and answering client and guide questions, etc. · Attend and facilitate Gear Checks which are led by Guide teams · Flight coordination and professional interface with Talkeetna Air Taxi and Denali NPS · Drive clients and guides to and from Alpine Ascents HQ to Talkeetna town at odd hours, as weather determines flight schedule · Coordination of paperwork and payments with the National Park Service · AAD grounds and facilities maintenance · Maintain personal timesheet and submit biweekly Location: Our logistics center is located 11 miles outside of Talkeetna “center”. We will provide shared on-site lodging with other Alaska staff. We do not provide food nor a consistent vehicle for personal transport.
