Alaska Road Trip & Kayak Guide

Employment Type: Seasonal (Mid/Late May - Early/Mid September) Location:  Moose Pass, Alaska (Moose Pass area lakes/trails, remote Grant Lake Camp, and road-based tours between Seward and Anchorage via the Seward Highway) Position Summary As an Alaska Road Trip & Kayak Guide, you’ll lead kayak and hiking adventures based in Moose Pass and, on select days, serve as the driver-guide for road-based tours and scenic transfers. This position is responsible for delivering safe, engaging guest experiences on the water, on the trail, and on the road; it combines natural and cultural interpretation with strong logistics, guest communication, and risk management. The role includes guiding half-day and full-day kayak and hiking tours in the Moose Pass area, supporting kayak rentals and logistics, leading and/or assisting overnight backcountry tours at Moose Pass Adventures’ remote yurt camp on Grant Lake, and operating company vehicles (including 15 passenger vans with trailers) for tours and private scenic transfers. Compensation Guiding (kayak / hiking / overnight tours): $21/hour Road-based tours & scenic transfers (assigned driver): $23/hour for CDL holders $21/hour for non-CDL guides Training and operations support (including onboarding/training days and non-tour duties) is paid at $17/hour. Key ResponsibilitiesKayak Guiding Guide half-day and full-day kayaking and hiking tours Lead or assist overnight backcountry tours (1-3 days) Host guests at the remote camp, including meal preparation, hospitality, and maintaining a welcoming environment Provide safety briefings, paddling/hiking instruction, and ongoing guest support Share natural history, wildlife awareness, and local Moose Pass history with guests in an engaging and accurate manner Support kayak rentals, guest check-ins, and on-site logistics Complete pre- and post-tour setup, cleaning, and gear organization Assist with camp and facility upkeep, including light maintenance, repairs, and supply restocking Road Based
