Camp Counselor

Onaway is seeking a Camp Counselor for the 2026 summer session. As a camp counselor, you have the opportunity to build relationships with and positively influence your campers’ lives. You will be challenged and energized, knowing that the time you are giving to camp will make a difference. Working with a group of 25 like-minded individuals, you will gain leadership skills and learn how to collaborate with other young people. You will also receive training in developmental levels, teaching, and leading before the summer begins. You will live in a cabin with a co-counselor, and together, you will oversee a cabin group of 8 to 16 campers ranging in age from 9 to 15. Together with your co-counselor, you will provide a safe space from which your campers learn they can trust one another and take risks. In addition to leading cabin group activities, you will help teach campers of all ages during morning and afternoon activity periods. Based on your areas of interest and experience, you will receive a personalized schedule that harnesses your strengths. Being a camp counselor is challenging at times, but it is also incredibly fun and rewarding. Dates: Wednesday, June 17th - Wednesday, August 16th, 2026 EXPERIENCE AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES: The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with children and adolescents or as a camp counselor. All counselors must hold a current CPR/First Aid/AED certification. A Red Cross Lifeguard certification is requested for all Waterfront counselors. Must be able to lift 50lbs.
