The facility is in the midst of an ambitious, multi-phase redevelopment—one designed to restore and elevate Copper Peak as a world-class ski jumping venue and a premier year-round outdoor destination. With significant investment secured and modernization well underway, Copper Peak is poised to once again host international competitions, support elite athlete training, and attract visitors from around the globe—while staying firmly grounded in its role as a community anchor. The Executive Director will guide Copper Peak through this pivotal period of growth, transformation, and renewed global engagement, shaping both its future impact and long-term sustainability. This is a rare leadership role for someone who understands winter sports, ski facilities, and highly visible outdoor events, and who is energized by building something meaningful with long-term impact. The Executive Director will serve as the organization’s chief leader, strategist, and ambassador—guiding Copper Peak from redevelopment into sustained international relevance. What You’ll Do. · Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for Copper Peak and its future operations. · Over the first two summer seasons, focus the majority of your time (approximately 90%) on overseeing and growing Copper Peak’s already popular Adventure Ride and related tourist-focused activities—expanding these offerings to generate approximately 85% of the organization’s overall revenue. · Lead the continued development of Copper Peak as a year-round outdoor destination, with tourist-driven activities expected to account for roughly 85% of total revenue, while ski jumping, training, and competitions represent approximately 15%. · Oversee planning and execution of international ski jumping competitions and training activities. · Lead day-to-day operations, staff, contractors, and a large volunteer base. · Work closely with the Board of Directors on governance, strategy, and long-term sustainability. · Build and maintain strong relationships with governing bodies (e.g., FIS), athletes, sponsors, donors, media, and community partners. · Lead fundraising, sponsorship development, and grant initiatives to support operations and growth. · Oversee budgeting, financial management, and reporting. · Ensure venue operations, safety standards, and regulatory compliance are met. · Serve as the public face of Copper Peak at local, national, and international levels. What We’re Looking For. We’re looking for a hands-on, forward-thinking leader with both operational strength and vision. Ideal qualifications include: · Senior leadership experience in the outdoor industry, winter sports, or large-scale events. · Experience with ski hill operations, competition venues, or outdoor recreation facilities strongly preferred. · Proven success leading complex, high-visibility organizations or events. · Fundraising, sponsorship, and stakeholder relationship experience. · Strong communication skills and comfort in a highly public, ambassador-style role. · Ability to inspire teams, engage volunteers, and collaborate effectively with a board. · This role requires travel within the U.S. and abroad to engage with high-performing ski jumping organizations and identify strategies that elevate our operations. · Willingness to live in or relocate to the Ironwood, Michigan area.
