Ferry Boat Captain

Ferry Operator / Boat Captain Vermilion Valley Resort – Lake Edison, CA Vermilion Valley Resort (VVR) is seeking an experienced Ferry Operator / Boat Captain to run our 20-passenger pontoon ferry across Lake Edison. The ferry operates 2–4 crossings per day , providing critical guest transportation to and from the resort. This position is ideal for someone with professional boat handling experience , strong mechanical aptitude, and comfort operating independently in a remote mountain environment. Responsibilities •    Safely operate a 20-seat pontoon ferry across Lake Edison •    Transport guests, gear, and supplies in a professional and courteous manner •    Perform daily pre-trip inspections and routine operational checks •    Conduct basic mechanical troubleshooting, maintenance, and minor repairs •    Monitor weather, water conditions, and passenger safety at all times •    Maintain cleanliness and operational readiness of the vessel •    Communicate clearly with resort staff regarding schedules, conditions, and issues •    Uphold all safety procedures and best practices for passenger transport Qualifications • Ferry Captain experience OR extensive large-boat operating experience required - USCG Master License  (Inland) REQUIRED •    Strong knowledge of boat mechanics, engines, and maintenance •    Proven ability to operate a vessel safely with passengers aboard •    Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision •    Calm, professional demeanor with guests in a customer-facing role •    Physically capable of assisting passengers and handling equipment •    Reliability and punctuality are essential Preferred (but not required) •    Previous work in remote or seasonal resort settings •    Familiarity with mountain lake conditions Work Environment •    Remote, high-elevation alpine lake •    Stunning scenery and tight-knit seasonal crew •    Position requires comfort living and working away from town amenities Compensation & Perks •    Competitive seaso
