About This Role
As a Hiking Guide, you will lead guests on scenic, informative, and safe hiking experiences in and around Denali’s front country Alaska’s wild landscapes. You’ll be responsible for guiding both scheduled daily hikes and private, customized hiking trips. Your role includes interpreting natural and cultural history, ensuring guest safety, and delivering top-tier outdoor experiences in all weather conditions. Housing only $8 dollars a day! Key Responsibilities: Lead daily and private hiking tours, ranging from half-day to full-day trips. Carry all required gear; bear spray, first aid kit, license, permit. Educate guests on Alaska’s ecosystems, wildlife, geography, geology, and cultural history. Monitor and maintain group safety at all times; manage group dynamics and pace. Conduct pre-hike safety briefings and post-hike debriefs. Provide exceptional customer service with professionalism and enthusiasm. Assist with gear checks, transportation logistics, and trailhead coordination. Monitor weather, wildlife activity, and trail conditions. Act as an ambassador for Leave No Trace principles and wilderness ethics. Respond calmly and effectively to minor injuries or emergencies in the field. Maintain logs of guided hikes, incidents, and guest feedback as required. Communicate availability clearly to management Be prepared to lead all scheduled hikes—whether pre-booked or last-minute—on your assigned workdays. Qualifications: Previous guiding experience in Alaska, remote terrain. Knowledge of Alaska flora, fauna, geology, and backcountry travel skills. Current Wilderness First Aid or WFR (Wilderness First Responder) certification. CPR/First Aid Certification, Leave No Trace Ability to lead hikes of varying difficulty (from easy walks to strenuous climbs). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
