SOAR NC is currently seeking dedicated field staff who are passionate about engaging with neurodivergent youth and leading adventure-based programs centered around outdoor education and life skill development! North Carolina's Balsam Base offers expedition-style trip and travel adventures that range from 10-17 days. Programs are co-ed, with each group comprising up to 8 campers supervised by two field staff and a course director. Activities include rock climbing, whitewater rafting, canoeing, backpacking, llama treks, horseback riding, and caving. Programs may also feature cultural and STEM-based experiences in the mountains of Western NC. Responsibilities include: Field Staff are responsible for supervising and ensuring the safety of students 24/7 while leading expeditionary style courses. They manage daily logistics and activities, facilitate the development of life skills, establish group dynamics, navigate behavioral situations, collaborate with course directors, parents, and fellow staff, and write camper progress notes using a strengths-based approach.
