About This Role

Employment Type: Seasonal (Mid/Late May - Early/Mid September) Location: Moose Pass, Alaska (local lakes, trails, and remote Grant Lake Camp) Position Summary The Kayak Adventure Guide is responsible for leading safe, engaging kayaking and hiking tours in the Moose Pass area, assisting with gear, logistics and rentals, and serving as a camp host at Moose Pass Adventures’ remote yurt camp on Grant Lake. This position combines hands-on guiding with multiday guest hosting, camp upkeep, and general support of day-to-day operations in a small, family owned outfitting business. Compensation Guiding (kayak / hiking / overnight tours): $21/hour Training and operations support (including onboarding/training days and non-tour duties) is paid at $17/hour. Key Responsibilities Guide half-day and full-day kayaking and hiking tours Lead or assist overnight backcountry tours (1-3 days) Host guests at the remote camp, including meal preparation, hospitality, and maintaining a welcoming environment Provide safety briefings, paddling or hiking instruction, and ongoing guest support Share natural history, wildlife awareness, and local Moose Pass history with guests in an engaging and accurate manner Support kayak rentals, guest check-ins, and on-site logistics Complete pre- and post-tour setup, cleaning, and gear organization Assist with camp and facility upkeep, including light maintenance, repairs, and supply restocking Qualifications Current Wilderness First Aid (WFA) or Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification Current CPR certification Previous kayaking experience in flatwater and/or moving water, with the ability to paddle confidently, assist guests, and manage boats and gear in variable conditions Experience hiking on uneven terrain while carrying a backpack and/or group gear, including comfort with elevation gain, wet or muddy trails, and changing weather Leave No Trace 101 certification (or willingness to complete prior to arrival) Valid driver’s license Familiarity with
