Job Description - Store Manager – West Vail Bike & Ski Location Revised 2/11/2026 Job Title: Store Manager Job Type: Full-time, Year-round Department: Sales & Service Support Reports to: Owner/GM Job Summary The Retail Manager is responsible for maintaining a highly effective sales staff and sales floor environment at our West Vail bike and ski shop . This role provides leadership, training, and support for the sales team, while ensuring inventory levels, merchandising standards, and “Kind Bikes and Skis” customer experience expectations are consistently met. In addition to sales management responsibilities, this position requires intermediate-level bike and ski service capabilities , including the ability to properly assess bikes and skis for service needs, locate replacement parts, and perform most basic to intermediately complex repairs and tuning services. Because of the mountain-town setting, this role also requires seasonal adaptability : in winter, a strong focus on ski and snowboard services; in summer, emphasis on bikes and cycling gear. This dual focus ensures seamless collaboration between sales and service and enhances the customer experience year-round. Salary - Starting salary is $56,000 plus benefits. Hiring salary DOE plus benefits. Duties and Responsibilities Sales & Customer Experience Maximize and grow revenue. Ensure customer service and experiences consistently exceed expectations. Set a professional tone and maintain strong employee morale in the store. Maintain clean, organized, and high-standard merchandising displays. Remerchandise regularly to create a fresh layout for frequent customers. Assist with challenging customer interactions and ensure complaints are resolved positively. Service & Technical Responsibilities (Seasonal Focus) Perform intermediate-level service for both bikes and skis/snowboards, and assist in absence of Service Manager with Work Order maintenance and customer commitments, including: Assessing equipment for repair or tuning needs and communicating them effectively to customers. Locating and sourcing replacement/service parts as needed. Completing most basic to intermediate service and tuning tasks (bike adjustments, tire and wheel repairs, drivetrain service, brake bleeds; ski/snowboard edge sharpening, waxing, and binding installation and checks).
