About This Role

Reporting to the Assistant Camp Director of counseling, Unit Directors are responsible for direct supervision of a unit, its campers, staff and program. Pay is $450 per week, including meals and housing. FLSA Section 13(a)(3) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Previous camp staff experience and at least 2 years of college experience or equivalent. Current CPR and First Aid required Wilderness First Aid is preferred. Ability to supervise and support staff and campers. Ability to creatively schedule programs, facilities, and staff Good character, integrity, adaptability and enthusiasm. Valid driving license and good driving record. Good example for youth in appearance, attitudes, and moral and ethical behavior. Must be a minimum of 20 years old. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Be responsible for the welfare of each individual in the unit and do all possible to solve problems. Inform assistant camp director of any camper or staff problems. Visit cabins regularly during the day and evenings as a supervisory tool, to provide opportunity to get to know campers and staff. Must be with a cabin three nights a week, give counselors 10-15 minute breaks during the day, take cabin groups for one activity block per day, and assist with evening supervision of cabin areas as assigned. Responsible for counselors knowing proper conduct. Assist in staff training. Responsible for Zanika Znews and progression charts. Help ensure morale of staff by monitoring that staff gets enough rest, time and days off, and that recreational opportunities are available to them. Together with counselors and campers, plan and execute the evening program of unit. In the event a cabin counselor is ill or their employment is terminated, lead the activity or cabin. Responsible for restroom supervision. Observe, share and /or participate with camp quiet hour, camp kapers, camp meals, β€œall camp” activities, flag ceremony and other camp activities.
